Kids, traditions and smiley faces

People who know me know that I'm a smiley face person. I can't help it - they make me smile back! I've been signing Andrew's cards with a smiley face heart since he was 2. I figured he would recognize that even though he couldn't read the word "Mom". I draw smiley faces on card envelopes - usually with a hat to mark the occasion. During the winter when the car windows were covered, I would walk around the car cleaning off the windows while Andrew sat inside. When I got to his window, I always scraped a smiley face in the snow. And it always made him smile.

Tuesday was another nasty day. Snow and sleet and I didn't feel well. My sweet son took pity on me and picked me up to get some dinner. We ate at Pizza King - where I forgot to ask about a seniot discount. But it was good and we had a nice talk. When we left the sleet was already freezing on the windows. I sat in the car while he cleaned off the windows. When he got to my window there was a little pause. I looked out and he had drawn a smiley face in the ice!!! That was the sweetest surprise!

I'm glad for my son and traditions. Life is so much better with both!

Hope you've had a good week. Take care!
