While on the scenic route last Sunday I had the joy of watching Cindy sing along with the radio. She really really likes "Chicken Fried". If you know country music and the song, you understand why. It has a refrain that just begs you to sing along. "I like my chicken fried, cold beer on a Friday night..." The more she sang, the more she got into it - it was a blast watching her!
I can't say a word because I know just how Jimmy Buffett likes his cheeseburgers "...with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes, big kosher pickle and a cold glass of beer..." When that comes on the radio, the volume goes up and I am happily singing along! Toby Keith's "Shoulda Been A Cowboy" is another favorite.
Singing is a great release! So why are so many of us hesitant to sing in our cars lest the people around us think we are nuts? Who cares? I bet they will smile watching you and who knows? Maybe they will sing, too! I have to say that it is quite funny to pull up alongside someone and realize you are both singing along to the same song on the radio. We need to do that more often!
So having "Chicken Fried" stuck in my brain since Sunday, I met my friend, Jo Anne, for dinner at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I'm trying to find out all these discounts so I asked if they offer a senior dicount and was told yes. They don't post it but if you ask, they will give you 10% off! Excellent! Again, this was a local KFC so check yours to see if they do. I guess the lesson learned there is it never hurts to ask!
It's almost Friday which means it's almost the weekend. YAY! Hope you all are having a good week. Take care!
